I will follow You…

After praying a lot about going back to Africa, we met with Jim S, the missionary with ReachGlobal; we talked and we learned about the vision of ReachGlobal. It was a good meeting and it was encouraging to think about using the gifts that the Lord’s given us to serve Him in Africa; a place that had been on our hearts for a long time. He gave us information later that week about a ministry in one African country. We looked at it, but didn’t feel the Lord leading in this. We prayed that God would clearly direct us as we explored missions with ReachGlobal. And that if Jim presented us with something God wanted us to do, that we would have an excitement and confirmation from the Lord.

We met with Jim again the next month. He spoke with Mark about how he could be involved in discipleship to the nationals working with youth and children in Africa and how I could be involved in Globalfingerprints, the child sponsorship program of the EFCA where 1300+ children in Congo are being given an education, health care, and the love of Christ.  Jim talked to us about living in Cameroon, Central Africa. We took in what he said, prayed and felt like this might be it. This might be the right fit and what God was calling us to!

I love Chris Tomlin’s song, I will Follow and it became my heart’s prayer. The following are some of the words in the song:

“…Where you go, I’ll go
Where you stay, I’ll stay
When you move, I’ll move
I will follow you
Who you love, I’ll love
How you serve I’ll serve
If this life I lose, I will follow you
I will follow you…

All your ways are good
All your ways are sure
I will trust in you alone
Higher than my side
High above my life
I will trust in you alone…”

Though we were content where the Lord had us, we wanted to follow Him if He was calling us somewhere else… if He was calling us back to Africa.  So, we officially began the process of applying with ReachGlobal. We kept praying & desiring to trust Him!
