A New Pair of Shoes

In less than two weeks, we’ll start our fourth year of homeschooling! I’m excited to begin a new year! With it brings a fresh start, all sorts of wonderful books that we’ll be reading with our Sonlight Curriculum and so many new things we’ll learn together!

With the start of school approaching quickly, there are tons of advertisements for new school supplies and clothes.  Most of us with school-aged children have our lists of what we need to buy. One of the things on my list are shoes! Joshua, our eight year old, is growing like a weed! I need to buy him a new pair of gym shoes and a pair of nicer shoes because both of his old pairs have gotten too small.

I recently came across GlobalFingerprints’ featured story. (GlobalFingerprints is the child sponsorship program of the Evangelical Free Church of America) The article informs readers about orphans in Congo who, like Joshua, need a new pair of shoes as they are also getting ready for a new school year. But because these children don’t have a mom or dad who can go drive to the local Target to buy them a new pair of shoes, but instead are living with relatives who can hardly provide for their own children’s basic needs, they probably won’t get a new pair of shoes for the start of the school year.

However, GlobalFingerprints offered a way that I could help! They offered a way that you could help!  We can give $10 to buy a new pair of shoes for a young child in Congo through GlobalFingerprints.

If you’d like to buy a pair of shoes, for only $10, for an orphan in Congo who is getting ready to go to school but can’t afford a new pair of shoes, go to the following link to read more about this project and how you can give easily on-line:

“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

  1. Thanks for sharing about Shoe Me on your blog, Cathy! I’ll be praying for your family this school year!

    • Your welcome! I was glad to share about how people could give in this way, to help the kids in Congo as they also get ready for school to begin!
Thanks for praying for our family as we start our school year! It’s been a great start… very busy though as we juggle homeschooling & the kids activities with Ministry Partnership Development! 🙂
