I need You

Recently, one very early Sunday morning, practically in the middle of the night, I woke up,  and I couldn’t fall back asleep. Do you have this problem like I sometimes do?  This particular morning, I was thinking about our future. I was praying to the Lord, wondering when He would take us to Africa, and wondering where the other 35% of our support was going to come from.

The Lord knew where I was at, and He knew the truth I needed to hear to combat some of the discouragement I felt. Later that morning, we visited Fellowship Life Bible Church in Gilberts, IL.  The songs that the worship leader chose for that particular Sunday were so appropriate for where I was at.

“In the middle of the night when worry finds me. In the middle of a fight when strength is gone. In the middle of a fire when fear is closing in… You are my song. You’re my hope when hope is gone. So, I will cast my cares on You, the Almighty. I will cast my cares on You ’cause You’re good. I will cast my cares on You ’cause You love me. You love me…” (Cast My Cares)

As she led us in worship to our Heavenly Father, I was able to set aside the troubles in my heart and fix my eyes on Him in pure worship. This song expressed to the Lord the emotions that we sometimes can have… discouragement, worry, weariness, fear. But then the song writer tells of who our Lord is; He is our song, He is our hope, He is the Almighty, and He is good!  And He loves us!  We are led into worshiping our Lord; the One we can go to when we are worried.

“Lord I come, I confess. Bowing here, I find my rest. And without You, I fall apart. You’re the one that guides my heart. Lord, I need You. Oh, I need You. Ev’ry hour, I need You. My one defense, my righteousness. Oh God, how I need You. So teach my song to rise to You. When temptation comes my way. And when I cannot stand I’ll fall on You. Jesus, You’re my hope and stay. And when I cannot stand, I’ll fall on You. Jesus, You’re my hope and stay.” (Lord I Need You)

Again, this song leads us to worship Jesus for who He is. Jesus is where we find our rest, the One who guides us, our defense, and our hope.   The words of this song ministered to my heart, and I was reminded of my great need for Jesus. HE is the One who carries me through everything in this life.

“I lay me down I’m not my own. I belong to You alone… There’s no life apart from You… Letting go of my pride. Giving up all my rights. Take this life and let it shine. It will be my joy to say, Your will, Your way, always.” (Lay Me Down)

This song, Lay me Down, spoke truth into my heart and mind, reminding me that when we go to Africa and how we’ll get there is all up to the Lord. It will happen according to His will. His way.

I’m thankful for the truths communicated in these worship songs that the Lord used to minister to my heart.

In Christ,  Cathy
