It all started when a friend invited me to Bible Study…

Slide1

Last week, Cathy and I got to spend time with Pastor Adam Huh.  Adam and I were classmates in Junior High and High School. It was through Adam that I became a Christian.  He invited me to Bible study and youth group.  He prayed for me and included me in his circle of friends.  He cared about me as a friend and someone who was destined for condemnation.  When we had a disagreement, he showed humility and sought to reconcile. When we were in college, he showed me that ministry is not primarily up front, but is who you are when no one is watching.  I learned from Adam how to intercede for people in prayer, and that I needed to be more transparent about my life with others.

As I think about how it all started, Adam didn’t really have any compelling reason to share with me or invite me.  I wasn’t real close to him and wasn’t going out of my way to become friends with him.  The impetus had to come from someone else.  It had to come from Christ.

My spiritual heritage was impacted by Adam.  But the real source and cause of it all is Jesus. He impacted life after life until He reached me.

And I pray that God will use me to impact others. I will be discipling Cameroonian Christian leaders; I want to encourage them to grow to have a greater Kingdom focus and encourage them to make an impact for God’s Kingdom in the lives of the people they disciple.  I want to pass on what has been shared with me and taught to me, to these leaders.  I pray that God will use me to help impact the whole continent with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Friends, what is God calling you to be part of?  What is your time and energy spent on?   I am praying for you; that God will reveal his clear purposes in your life and that each of you will be about the Lord’s business.

For I know their works and their thoughts, and the time is coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and shall see my glory, and I will set a sign among them. And from them I will send survivors to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, who draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands far away, that have not heard my fame or seen my glory. And they shall declare my glory among the nations. And they shall bring all your brothers from all the nations as an offering to the Lord, on horses and in chariots and in litters and on mules and on dromedaries, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, just as the Israelites bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord. And some of them also I will take for priests and for Levites, says the Lord. For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make shall remain before me, says the Lord, so shall your offspring and your name remain. From new moon to new moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before me, declares the Lord. (Isaiah 66:18-23 ESV)

I close with this thought.  Isaiah speaks of how believers from all nations are brought to Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord.  How are we participating in this?  What will the result of our lives be?  Will many recount the way God used us in their lives, or will there be deafening silence? Spend your life on what really counts and matters.  Have you played a role in a person’s salvation and discipleship like Adam did in mine?  If not, it’s not too late.

  1. Thanks Mark. Really encouraging to hear of how God called you, of Adam’s faithful and comprehensive witness, and a little of your vision for now. Thanks for the exhortation my friend!
