… among all people

Slide1Over the last week, we have shared the passions the Lord has put on our hearts, and what He is calling us to in Africa. The Lord created Mark and I differently; with different roles, talents, giftings, strengths, and passions. And together, we hope to honor the Lord in our marriage and family.

When we go to Cameroon, Mark is going to bring with him his love for Jesus and children, and his years of experience pastoring and discipling youth and children, to train and disciple African Christian leaders who are also passionate about Jesus and children, so that they can minister effectively and reach more children for Christ.

In addition to taking care of our home and family, I want to partner with African Christian leaders, using the gifts in administration that the Lord has given me,  to develop projects that will give the poorest of the poor hope for today and for eternity.  The Lord is calling me to Africa to declare the Gospel message by sharing what Christ has done, and demonstrate the Gospel message by showing His love to the poor.

Along with these passions, our hearts are also burdened for the unreached.  According to the Joshua Project, “An unreached or least-reached people is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group.”  There are still 2.9 billion people in the world who are considered unreached!

This is a little hard to imagine because I, like many of you, live in a city where I have access to several Christian radio stations,  where there are many Bible-believing, Christ-following churches, where I can walk into a Christian book-store and choose any number of translations of the Bible and purchase countless books to encourage me in my walk with the Lord, and where I can fellowship with many friends who love Jesus.

But, it’s true. There are a lot of places where there is little, if any, Christian witness and opportunity to hear the Gospel.  According to the Joshua Project, there are 15 unreached people groups in Cameroon; 2,861,000 people who have never had the opportunity to hear the Gospel.  They have never heard how much God loves them and sent Jesus to die on the cross for their sins.  Many of the unreached people live in the northern part of Cameroon. But many of them are traveling to Yaounde, the capital, for work and school.

Matthew 28:19-20 commands us to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…”

The Lord is calling us to go to Africa, and He has burdened our hearts for the unreached. When we move to Yaounde, Cameroon, we will encounter some of these people.  We already know people partnering with national Christian leaders who are being called to reach the unreached, and we look forward to joining in this work as well.

Please pray for the unreached in Africa, that they may hear the Good News and come to know Jesus as their Savior!
